60 to 90 percent of Earthworms are killed when traditional pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers are regularly applied.

Animals that drink run-off water in street gutters are ingesting the pesticides and herbicides used to treat those lawns.
You should think twice before letting your four legged friend take a sip on your neighborhood walks.

Steps Everyone can Take to Help:

Refuse routine application of pesticides.

Beware if a lawn service tells you a chemical application is safe. (please ask them) Federal EPA regulations prohibit manufacturers from making safety claims, even if used as directed.  All pesticides must be treated with caution.

Refuse routine application of pesticides.

Be aware that chemicals listed as inert ingredients can be highly toxic.

Take note: many pesticides persist in lawns and soil long after the posted 24-72 hours re-entrance time period.

If another service claims to be organic, ask if there products are OMRI/ USDA certified
.

Why Green

The buzz is big right now, organic foods and organic farming are in the media every day. Over 86 percent of the public say they do not want any leftover pesticides in their food, and sadly government tests suggest that one in every four items of food you buy contains traces of pesticides. 150 of the commonly used pesticides are potentially cancer causing; some cannot be washed off.

We believe this is a substantial problem. It's not just the farmers and orchards that need to do their parts in creating a safer environment, it's everyone. Pesticides linked to cancer, birth defects and neurological disorders contaminate almost all of the nation’s rivers and streams and most fish found in them (Associated Press, 2006). These contaminants come from many sources, including runnof from lawns. One way you can help is to choose a service to treat your own lawn organically. Choose to stop the use of harmful pesticides and chemicals that can be tracked into your home or businesses.

Lawn Fact: During a typical year in neighborhoods across the country, over 102 million pounds of toxic pesticides are applied in pursuit of a perfect lawn and garden. This figure, up from 90 million pounds in the year 2000, continues to grow despite the growing body scientific evidence of the public health and environmental consequences.

Reasons to Go Organic

It is healthier for the turf and landscapes
Our Organic service focuses on turf and landscape soil health. This means that our organic service will carefully analyze each segment of the over all condition of your turf and landscape that suits your particular micro-climate as well as the overall zone.

It helps create sustainable landscapes
A new set of ethics and expectations is needed to put individuals and communities more in sync with nature. "Why put out a bird feeder to feed birds, but put synthetic pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers on turf and kill worms so they have no natural food?" Good sustainable growing practices that create healthy, fertile soils will ensure the longevity of these lands for future generations to enjoy and use without fear of chemical hazards. Our philosophy emphasizes natural solutions. Did you know that 60-90% of earthworms are killed by regular applications of traditional pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. Earthworms are invaluable for healthy soil production.

It does not contribute to air, ground and water pollution
By eliminating the use of conventional chemical pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers. You will ensure that the air, soil and groundwater in the vicinity will not be contaminated as a result of your actions. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that 40-60% of nitrogen applied to lawns ends up in surface or groundwater sources.

It is beneficial to your health
According to the EPA, 111,000 Americans are sickened each year due to pesticides, herbicides and fertilizer exposure; over 230,000 people are treated in the ER each year from accidents related to lawn care products such as pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers. Worldwide three million people are sickened each year.

You will have healthy, happy, satisfied neighbors
Our customers care about others' wellbeing. They don't have to worry about their neighbors complaining about harmful spray drift and the chemical smells. All our materials are 100% sustainable certified organic materials.

It encourages governments to respond with more appropriate legislation
Our government reacts to trends and to the demands of business and consumers. The National Wildlife Federation and the National Audubon Society are among several groups now campaigning to convince Americans to reduce and eliminate the use of harmful synthetic pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers. As more consumers and organizations switch and take up the organic cause, local governments will be forced to re-consider regulations and work towards distinguishing organic products from the harmful chemical pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers we are rejecting. Collectively our voice has to be heard so that we can get the products that we need to do our work while eliminating those that are harmful to our shared environment.

Growing government and consumer demand
With many municipalities considering phase-outs on conventional synthetic pesticide, herbicide, and fertilizer use, it can be expected that municipalities and consumers alike will be turning to the organic industry for help.

It helps develop a growing organic industry
According to the Organic Trade Association, an organization that spans North America, 43% of the population is using at least some type of organic product. Users of these products tend to be more concerned about health and the environment than the general population. Organic users and the general population are moving into closer alignment as organic products move into mainstream consciousness.

Health
. 50 to 75 percent of homeowners store synthetic pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers in unlocked areas within reach of children, and 50 percent do not read the warning labels before being use. Of the most commonly used lawn pesticides, 13 can cause cancer, 14 can cause birth defects, 11 can interfere with reproduction and 21 can damage the nervous system. (EPA)

Chemicals added to your lawn may stay on your lawn, may be transferred to interior carpets via foot traffic, may come in contact with your kids, your pets – anyone who spends time in your grass.
